Grier Summer Camps for Girls

Especially for First-time Campers

We hope to make every camper’s experience a positive one. Every child is different, and we realize that some girls (or their parents) may not be ready for a full three-week experience.  For this reason, we have developed two shorter programs especially for young, first-time campers.

Grier Summer Mother-Daughter Sessions

For girls aged 6 to 10, with their mothers

This weekend getaway is a great opportunity for young campers to experience sleepaway camp without the anxiety of leaving mom.  During the day, adults attend activities separately from the campers, and at night everyone enjoys large group evening programs together.

Grier Summer Rookie Camp

For girls aged 6 to 10 (First-time campers only)

This is the perfect first-time camp experience.  Campers follow our regular camp schedule and choose from a variety of camp activities including horseback riding, equine studies, arts and crafts, dance, drama, pool games, and sports.

All campers at Grier Summer live in dormitory rooms according to age. Each dorm room houses two people, and there is a bathroom connecting every two rooms. The rooms include two beds, two dressers, two desks, and two closets. Two counseling staff are assigned to each unit of 6-8 campers. The counselors live in the hall, very close to the campers. Counselors are college-age women, and we sometimes employ exceptional high school seniors to assist the counselors.

Grier Summer is accredited by the American Camp Association, meeting over 200 standards for health and safety, site and facilities, administration, and camper programs. We have fewer than 100 campers at a time, and would love for you to become a member of our camp family.
