Descriptions:

Meals: A hot buffet meal is served for breakfast, lunch and dinner and a variety of healthy options are available. Campers in a unit sit together with their counselors in the dining room during meals.

Long activity periods: During 2 activity periods, campers are scheduled for horseback riding lessons. Campers have Equine Studies during another activity period. The remaining period is for an elective of the camper’s individual choice, such as arts and crafts, dance, tennis, theatre, or sports. Campers receive their individual schedule at breakfast on the first Monday of the session.

Rest hour/free swim and gym: Younger units go the pool or gym at 12:00 and have rest hour in the gym at 1:00. Older units have rest hour after lunch and the pool is open for them at 1:00. The oldest units (age 15-16) have special priviledges during this time, such as computer time, movie watching, and optional extended rest hour.

Short activity period: Campers have the option of signing up to help with barn chores during this time, or they may elect to participate in a traditional camp activity (arts and crafts, dance, theatre, pool games, etc.)

Canteen: Our camp store is open during this time for campers to purchase camp merchandise, get quarters for laundry, buy a snack candy, or replace necessary toiletry items. All purchases are deducted from a special canteen account established by the camper’s parent before the session begins.

Unit activity: Counselors lead a unit activity with their campers during this time. Examples are going to the challenge course, going on a bike ride, doing laundry, using the computers to email home, playing a sport, cleaning messy bedrooms, or practicing a performance for evening program.

Evening program: Most evening programs are large group activities designed for the entire camp’s participation. Examples are campfire, field games, talent show, “Miss Allegheny” pageant, dance parties, scavenger hunt, international night, and game show night.

On occasion, teenage campers have opportunities to go off campus for special outings during evening programs.  Examples of these outings include minor league baseball games, bowling, or miniature golf.

Bedtime: All campers are expected to be in their units in the dorm by 9:30 p.m. Specific bedtimes vary, depending on the age of the girls in the unit and their level of fatigue. By 10:30, most lights are out and hallways are quiet, (and often much earlier for younger campers).
